About Asthma

Symptoms

Asthma symptoms can appear to be mild or severe, but any asthma symptom is always serious. Even mild symptoms can quickly become life threatening.

Common asthma symptoms include:

  • difficulty breathing
  • a tight feeling in the chest
  • coughing
  • wheezing

Sometimes a cough that won’t go away is the only symptom. Asthma symptoms often happen at night and in the morning but can occur at any time. They get worse when you are around asthma "triggers."
