How are HFA inhalers the same as CFC inhalers?
In many ways, HFA inhalers are just like the CFC inhaler you currently use:
- How it works – The most important thing to know is that the medicine in the new inhalers has not changed. It is the same and it still works just as well as the old one to open your airways.
- What it looks like – The outside of the new inhaler looks very much like your old one. The only change is that it says “HFA” by the drug’s name.

When to use it – When and how often you use your inhaler shouldn’t change once you switch to the new one.
