02-01-2007, 8:40 PM walter Joined on 02-02-2007 Posts 1 sublingual immunotherapy I have now seen 7 patients who were placed on sublingual therapy who have developed significant reflux, 4 have had EGD that showed significant eosinophilic infiltration of esophageal and  gastric mucosa. All stopped sublingual therapy the symptoms resolved. One individual decide to restart against advice and had recurrance of symptoms. How common is eosinophilic infiltration with this therapy?  These were patient who were being treated elswhere who moved to my area.     Report

05-08-2007, 12:11 PM Bushido Joined on 05-08-2007 Posts 1 Re: sublingual immunotherapy There are (as of yet) no official reports that I am aware of eosinophilic infiltration with this therapy, but of course if any procedure is done long enough and with the diversity that SLIT practitioners are using, then side-effects could occur. Most studies on safety report some cases of gastric upset, but no biopsy-proven cases of eosinophilic infiltration. GFK www.angryallergist.com    Report
