The Alliance goes West

By Rebecca A. Goldberg, R.N., Alliance President

I look forward to seeing many of you at the ACAAI Annual Meeting in Anaheim, Nov. 8-13. Remind your spouse or significant other to register you as well when they register for the meeting. You receive a discount for your registration if your Alliance dues are current.

Registered spouses and guests are invited to join us for a continental breakfast and entertainment in the Alliance Hospitality Suite. It's a good time to visit with old friends and meet new ones, in addition to learning about Anaheim area activities. The Suite will be in the Orange County Ballroom at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel from 8:00-10:30 a.m., Friday through Monday. We have programs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for adults and programs for kids (and kids at heart) on Saturday and Sunday. We will again host the International Reception on Saturday evening, and - something new for 2012 - raise funds for the ACAAI Foundation with our Photography Competition. If you have questions about entering the contest, check out the Alliance tab on the College website at www.acaai.org. I encourage you to get the photographic interpretation of your experiences entered to share with the rest of us. The deadline was extended until Friday, Oct. 19. No late entries will be accepted.

Lastly, the Business Meeting and Luncheon held Sunday, Nov. 11, is where we will install our next officers of the Alliance: Ellen Portnoy, president; Margaret Quel, president-elect; Lelia Sublett, treasurer; and appointments for secretary, parliamentarian and historian. Remember to reserve your tickets before the meeting, as we have limited seating. Your Alliance dues must be current to participate.

We, of course, can use your help with all of these activities. You can volunteer your time by either emailing or faxing Andrea King at alliance@acaai.org or (847) 427-1294. This is my last article to all of you. I thank Ellen Portnoy, our president-elect, for all of her assistance this year. She has worked diligently in assisting me with preparing for the meeting. I urge anyone not already participating in the many facets of the Alliance to come join us. Even if you only have one hour of time per year, the returns are well worth it.

As always, please feel free to contact me regarding any questions or concerns at bgoldberg@memclin.com. Any written suggestions send to my attention at ACAAI, 85 W Algonquin Road, Suite 550, Arlington Heights, IL, 60053.

See you in Anaheim!

Rebecca A. Goldberg, RN
Alliance President
