Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF)
Portable Document Format (PDF) is another method for displaying content on the WWW. In contrast to HTML, the most common file type for displaying content on the WWW, PDF is better at retaining the look and feel of the original document. Furthermore, printing a PDF file to a laser or color printer should produce a document which appears very much like the original.
In order to view a PDF file, you must have Adobe's Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded from the Adobe Web site for free (other download sites are also listed). Acrobat Reader is available for nearly every computer platform (ie. Windows, Windows 95, Macintosh, etc.).
Once you have installed the Acrobat software, you should be able to view any of the growing number of PDF files on the WWW.
